Fay at Wolven Hounds
Fay was born in April 2022. She is an AKC registered purebred Borzoi, which is a Russian sighthound breed that was historically bred to course game in the rugged Russian landscape. Fay comes from a line of Borzoi who excel at Lure Coursing, which is a sport where dogs chase a small lure attached to a mechanical track to simulate chasing prey.
Although Fay comes from a breed that has been bred to have a higher prey drive, Fay herself has proven to be very polite and neutral to small animals, including her owner’s indoor kitties. She’s very respectful to the other dogs in the household and plays well even in large groups with dogs of all sizes and ages. She hasn’t shown any same-sex aggression towards her owner’s other intact females. Fay’s owner describes her as being very calm, quiet, and polite both at home and in public. Fay has done excellently with off-leash hikes and has demonstrated lovely recall, even in unfamiliar environments. She’s also described as being a very thoughtful and snuggly girl when meeting new people and she has no hesitation cuddling up to total strangers. In true noodle fashion, she loves to be made much of and admired! Fay’s energy level in the home is low and she enjoys reclining in comfort and taking naps throughout the day. In the yard, she enjoys switching off between zooming with her fellow playmates and relaxing with the older dogs who enjoy watching the younger dogs roughhouse. She has a very sweet and silly personality and comes with a strong dose of “orange cat energy” in her shenanigans.
We are extremely grateful to have the opportunity to lease Fay so that she can contribute to our breeding program! Her litter with Genn will be Fay’s very first litter. We are estimating that she’ll likely next come into heat sometime in Summer of 2025. (Her last heat started in late November 2024.) Fay is traveling here to Texas to live with us in late December, so that she has plenty of time to integrate into our household. That way, she will be right at home for the breeding, pregnancy, and puppy raising. We are immensely excited to have this beautiful girl spend so much time with us! We feel that Fay’s lovely temperament and gorgeous looks are going to be a very positive influence on our new lower content sighthound-based line that we’re developing.
