Holly of the Ebon Blade “Holly”

Holly was born on December 26, 2020, and was bred by us, Wolfdogs of the Ebon Blade, here in Texas, USA. Holly is from our third litter, which was born at Christmas time, so we went with Christmas themed names for the litter. The Christmas Litter had 7 total puppies born via C-Section. Sadly, one male and one female did not survive the surgery. The remaining 5 puppies were large and healthy, and had 3 females and 2 males. Holly's parents are Anubis and Sylvaen Tarth (“Reckless”).

Holly's personality has a bit of subtle range. She tends to be a very quiet, observant, and serious girl who is fairly independent. She definitely has her cuddly moments, but she is also content to just hang out without needing to be right next to us. Holly has been one of the more confident puppies in this litter, and has enjoyed meeting new people and getting treats and belly rubs on our trips into town. She loves to play chase with her siblings and is turning out to be quite athletic. Holly LOVES water, and chances are high that she'll be wet from playing in her water buckets, or from swimming in the large round stock tank in her yard. Her favorite game is to bite at the water stream while we fill up their buckets and pool with the hose.

During training, Holly has a very intense focus and she loves to learn new things. She's very responsive to praise and has a pretty strong food drive, which helps reinforce her successes. She picks things up extremely quickly and retains what she has learned with minimal need for repitition.

Holly has a very high prey drive, so we do not allow her to interact with our indoor cats and our ducks. She has expressed some mild same-sex selectivity, but there are several female dogs that she gets along with very well. She is strongly bonded to her sister, Eve, and our adult female Tamaskan, Talia. Holly has shown absolutely zero resource guarding behaviors towards other dogs or people. She will happily share toys, treats, and food with other dogs.

Holly has shown a great deal of promise as a potential addition to our breeding program. We will continue to evaluate her health, temperament, and structure as she matures, and will be fully health testing her soon.

Holly is about 25 inches tall and weighs 65 lbs. She has reached her fully mature height, but will continue to fill out and put on a little more weight and muscle as she finishes maturing until she’s about 4-5 years old. Holly is agouti gray in color with rich red undertones. According to her Embark Vet DNA results, Holly’s total wolf content is 47% Gray Wolf. A link to her Embark results is listed below.
